Microsoft Cancels the Microsoft 365 Companion Apps
Microsoft launched the Microsoft 365 companion apps in November 2025 and now they have cancelled the apps. No obvious purpose or need for the apps and customer confusion is a fatal mix for any software to fight against, especially during an era when Microsoft is trimming engineering costs to free up investment for priority projects (mostly AI). The companion apps might have set a new record in terms of the shortest Microsoft 365 app lifetime.
